Alfred hails from a very beautiful country called Ghana. He received his B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Ghana, Legon. He worked on insecticide resistance in Anopheles mosquitoes at Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research. Being interested in researching plant-microbe interactions, he joined Virginia tech’s Translational Plant Science PhD program in 2018. After a year of laboratory rotation, he joined the Scharf Lab. Currently, Alfred is interested in understanding the function of the chemotaxis-like operon che2 in Sinorhizobium meliloti.
Besides lab work, he enjoys driving around, playing soccer, running and watching YouTube videos.
